Rep. Lee to Join Energy and Water Subcommittee with Critical Jurisdiction Over Yucca Mountain, Along with Subcommittees on Environmental and Veterans Issues
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) was appointed to three key subcommittees on the House Committee on Appropriations for the 117th Congress.
In addition to championing education, health care, nutrition, workforce development, and infrastructure at the full committee level, Rep. Lee is positioned to secure funding for Nevada priorities with her appointment to the subcommittees on Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies; Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies; and on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies.
“I’m honored to be a strong advocate for Nevada on the House Committee on Appropriations, especially at a time when our state faces unprecedented challenges that will require significant resources to address. In addition to securing urgent pandemic relief for Nevada families, by serving on these subcommittees, I will have a louder voice to protect Nevada from becoming the nation’s dumping ground for nuclear waste. I will also be able to influence critical funding decisions that will affect our military, veterans, tribes, public lands and waters, and renewable energy facilities. Most importantly, I will work tirelessly with Democrats and Republicans alike to deliver real results to Nevada.”
The House Committee on Appropriations is one of the most influential committees in Congress. The Committee is responsible for passing spending bills that fund the federal government and determining how taxpayer dollars are allocated to critical public resources and services.
