Drought Contingency Plan To Alter Water Shortage Guidelines for Arizona, Nevada and California

Editors Note: The Arizona led Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) may alter the amount of water supplied by the Lower Colorado and its Muddy and Virgin River tributaries to Lake Mead. When implemented it lowers the amount of water available to customers of the Virgin Valley Water District, Mesquite, NV and the Southern Nevada Water Authority, Las Vegas, NV.

The Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) in the Colorado River Basin updates 2007 Guidelines for the Lower Basin, coordinates reservoir operations, deals with storage and delivery of conserved water through the Intentionally Created Surplus (ICS) program and surplus guidelines.

The Draft Lower Basin (DCP which includes Lake Mead and its tributaries (Virgin and Muddy Rivers) deals with 2007 reductions, California contributions, Reduction guidelines, recovery of DCP contributions.
